Hanover Engineering was retained by Heidelberg Township to assist with the design and permitting for the replacement of the damaged culvert located on South Lancaster Avenue in Heidelberg Township, Lebanon County. The culvert conveys flow from an unnamed tributary to the Hammer Creek below South Lancaster Avenue. The structure sustained severe damage when the sidewalls of the culvert collapsed as a result of Tropical Storm Lee in 2011.
Hanover Engineering conducted a wetlands study and prepared and obtained a PAG-11 permit for the replacement of the culvert. In addition Hanover Engineering prepared the specifications and contract documents for the proposed work, which included the demolition of the existing culvert structure; construction and removal of a temporary bypass stream facility; fabrication, delivery and placement of the concrete box culvert; installation of erosion and sedimentation control facilities; and site restoration work.
Hanover Engineering also assisted with the construction observation and contract administration throughout the project. The project was designed, permitted, and constructed in less than 90 days.
