Pocono Creek Pedestrian Bridge

Municipal Engineering and Planning | Structural Engineering

The Pocono Creek Pedestrian Bridge is a prefabricated steel truss bridge located in Stroud Township and Stroudsburg Borough, Monroe County, and spans over the Pocono Creek measuring 120 feet long and 10 feet wide.

The pedestrian bridge connects Knights Park owned by Stroud Township with Stroudsburg Area High School and the nearby Stroudsburg Borough Park, allowing students and athletes at Stroudsburg High School and general public to safely cross the Pocono Creek and access the fields of Knights Park.

This bridge is the first of many crossings which are planned for the Stroud Greenway trail system. Stroud Region Open Space and Recreation Commission (SROSRC), through a partnership between Stroud Township and Stroudsburg Area School District, was awarded two state grants: DCNR Recreational Trails Program and a match from DCED to pay for the design and construction of the bridge, bridge approaches, ADA access, project sign, and other related site improvements. In addition, the park also received an ADA grant as part of the Pedestrian Bridge Project.

Hanover Engineering provided professional services including site and bridge design, grant assistance, permitting (which included a Joint Permit for watercourse obstruction and encroachment and a Letter of Map Revision from FEMA), and construction administration for this project.
