Campbelltown Community Park

Municipal Engineering & Planning

The Campbelltown Community Park is a 16-acre regional multi-use community park within South Londonderry Township, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. The park was designed to best meet the needs of the community for both active and passive recreational activities. Park funding was provided through a matching grant from DCNR and all design and construction was approved through DCNR. Hanover Engineering provided design, permitting, and construction management services for park development, including two soccer fields, a full-size baseball field, volleyball courts, basketball court, pavilions, parking lots, trails, and riparian buffer restoration.

Most trails were constructed of compacted stone dust and were designed to meet or exceed requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), including a 0.75-mile perimeter walking trail. Connections to existing trails involved coordination with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) for a crossing of a State Road. Stormwater runoff from the park was managed through the use of infiltration beds under parking areas and rain gardens to capture, treat, and infiltrate stormwater from the developed areas, all in compliance with current stormwater regulations.

As part of this project, Hanover Engineering also provided professional land surveying services, engineering design, landscape design, and environmental studies, as well as construction management services. Hanover Engineering assisted the Township with preparation
of the bid documents and specifications for three separate contracts, including evaluation of bids and selection of the site contractor.

The construction activities were completed by September 2015. The majority of this work was completed by Township Public Works employees.
